Land Tenure and Technical Efficiency of Smallholder Tea Producers: The Case of Ya’An City, China

70 percent of the world and 80 China’s tea production produced by smallholder farmers. However, per unit area significantly unchanged in past decades. Understanding factors affecting technical efficiency producers is very important to maximize production. Aimed at examining impact land tenure security certification on producers’ efficiency, this paper employs Cobb- Douglas Stochastic Production Frontier (CD-SPF) Translog (TL- SPF) methods for Maximum Likelihood Estimate (MLE) with cross-sectional data collected from 161 randomly selected farm plot households Ya’an city, China. We found that an 1 mu (0.067 ha) increase size will produce a 1.086 yield advantage also values input-output elasticity size, household income labor decrease turn 0.144, 0.105 0.010 respectively. The results show more crucial input than labor. Moreover, we identify determinations which enhance such as certification, age, education, farming experience, total holding, chemical fertilizer, steepness distance home find elimination insecurity through registration makes clear difference that. therefore recommend farmland need expand enlarge better comprehensive consolidation program. suggest endorsing certificates all holders help improve security, promote producers.
